Who here likes cheetos
I really want to know because i dont know if i should take all my things with me from the silent forest hideout to the chapter 2 thingy???
edited after my wiki contributions were removed and I don't know how to remove this post.
Is this even technically possible? Say you have nothing but ak+shotgun+ammo and meds, lantern for light.
A while ago, I did take a look at Special:Insights/nonportableinfoboxes and that page recommends editing several templates to use Wikia's portable infoboxes.
I made a couple of these; they can be found here:
- Template:Creaturebox/sandbox
- Template:Itembox/sandbox
- Template:Locationbox/sandbox
- Template:Skillbox/sandbox
These are supposed to be drop-in replacements for the current infoboxes. The main thing that's currently missing is a decent CSS theme, which would have to be added to the Wikia.css.
I didn't want to replace the old templates without some sort of discussion first. (Plus I can't edit the CSS file...) So here are some pros/cons for replacing the old infoboxes:
- The portable infoboxes have ultra clean markup compared to the old table boxes. Seriously, kudos to Wikia for implementing these. Using them would make future edits a lot easier.
- The old infoboxes can't handle mobile all that well, unfortunately. Example. Some parameters don't expand for some reason, and all of the CSS gets stripped so that only a barebones table remains… Not sure how many people care about the mobile view; Aesthetically it's currently complete garbage for any horror game, no matter what type of infobox is used.
- Portable infoboxes have some weird issues, like the inability to show icons the the header, like for the locationbox marks/map icons.
- There are probably currently various little errors and typos in the sandbox infoboxes, which would have to be ironed out. That'd require some work.
- Someone would have to write a CSS theme. My web design experience is very limited; I could probably only do something really basic, or maybe a theme that mimics the current Dark Souls look. Btw, there's the help page about portable infobox themes: Help:PortableInfoboxes/CSS. That looks like some pretty decent documentation.
So what's the community's opinion on replacing the infoboxes? Any thoughts? Or prayers?
Could some friendly admin adjust the padding of the darktable
cells here?
They look really cramped currently...
Header 1 | Header 2 | Header 3 |
---|---|---|
Content 11 | Content 12 | Content 13 |
Content 21 | Content 22 | Content 23 |
Content 31 | Content 32 | Content 33 |
Something like
.darktable td { padding: 0.25em 0.5em; }
should do the trick.
Thanks in advance! :)
I was exploring the Swamp Quarry, and found an area where some trees had been cut down. At the other end of this area is a gorge, and on the other side of the gorge is some villager. Once he sees you, he yells out for help. I can't find a way to get to him. Can anything be done for him?
The dog has 20 health, and a torch deals 10 damage, with this information it should be possible to learn the exact values.
Friends, i've killed three chompers with a molotov, near a dead corpse. I've needed to drop my OLD BIKE BELL when organizing my full inventory. Now the item is mixed with all of them deads, and I cannot retrieve it, couse only chompers and corpses inventory is available. It's like they so close together the bike bell pick up option cant be accessed.
Can someone tell me how to retrieve it? ive already tried a molotov to make the corpses disapear.
well, this is my 'official' lore thread, where i'll report my findings and leave you to make up a conclusion of it, i'll try to stay as subjective as possible with everything.
Are articles on the items found through the MERCIFUL (Radio Tower) path allowed? There were several notes, a specimen jar, a Scarecrow, two hideout-like locations, and some insights into what the Outsiders were doing (eg making giant holes in the roads to examine the giant cable-knots of tree roots). I've recently gone through the merciful ending and have made screencaps of all these items, can I go ahead and make/fix the articles for them?
hi im still in chapter 1, second hideout. but everynight, i get unwanted visitors that most of the times kill me. i ran out of furniture to block the doors so im a bit hopeless. what to do?
So got the wedding invitation a few days ago, but i cant remember the code and its completely random so I cant just look it up :/, is there anywway to review previously viewed notes in the game?
Hello! Here are a couple of tips for you to better make edits on this wiki. This includes stylistic and general acts which will make other editors' lives easier. Keep in mind that these are not very important/mandatory rules, and not following them won't get you punished. :)
- Style and Formatting:
The first mention of an article's name should be bolded. (Example: Wires are a crafting material...). In a similar way, all mentions of the word Darkwood should be italicised, even when referring to the game's setting instead of the name itself.
When adding quotes from the game that, for some reason, are not included in a Quote template, place them down in italic as well.
When adding captions to an image, make sure to have a dot on your sentences' end.
- Speculation:
When speculating on an article, try to clearly label your theories as such, possibly by placing a Heading named "Speculations" and writing them under that. Alternatively, post your ideas on the comments section of a respective article. Always try to back your claims. Wild speculations without backing (Example: Suggesting that Piotrek may be a god, which is not evidenced anywhere in the game) may be removed from articles.
- Categories:
Do not add categories to category pages. This is quite useless and only makes browsing harder for other people, as the wiki is not large enough to justify such practice. If you want to better categorize your article, check the Categories page. If two redundant/identical categories are encountered, select the one with the larger amount of articles. Alternatively, if you think one of the categories is better/more correct for some reason, do bring this to Staff's attention and we will fix the issue.
- When in Doubt:
Both the comments and the summary of changes when saving a page are useful ways of telling others about your doubts and intents. If you have doubts, write these down (Not on the main article, obviously) and more experienced users will easily find your post on Wiki Activity or Recent Changes. You can always check other articles to see a pattern of editing (For example: Referring to merchant characters as Vendors instead of Sellers or Shopkeepers).
- Uploading Files:
Avoid posting item icons taken from screenshots, since these have lower quality and no transparency around them. If you upload new icons, name them in following the pattern "Icon_(item name without capital letters, using underlines for spaces)" PNG files are the preferred format for non-animated images, as JPG files tend to have a greater quality loss and worse compressing.
Do not categorize pictures with categories meant for articles. Example: Pictures of agressive creatures should not receive the "agressive creatures" category. You can, however, create categories such as "Images of creatures". There are also templates made specially for image licensing information (For example, Template:Fairuse).
- Commenting:
Avoid posting multiple comments replying to yourself. Instead, press the Edit button to change your original comment. It is, obviously, still okay to reply to someone else's comment after they replied to your original comment.
I hope some of these additions can be helpful to you all. :) This list may be eventually updated and expanded.
Hello all,
I've been contributing for a while, but am admittedly a little new to wikis. We have a few pages here whose contents sometimes contain speculation or theory, and I've run into people in the "wild" believing the claims to be true, since they're on the wiki.
I'd like to remove speculation from the bodies of articles, so as to make sure we keep them as factual and accurate as possible, but I also understand that part of the fun of Darkwood (especially during Alpha!) is speculating about the how and why of the various mysteries.
What's the best way to handle this? Am I being overzealous in trying to keep things accurate on the main page?
I tihnk the best idea would be to have an explicit "Speculation" section on each page that was collapsible, so that it won't clutter the main page or confuse anyone looking for facts, while also still keeping it easy to see and contribute to.
Or maybe just a speculation superscript thing, like Wikipedia's [citation needed].
I definitely don't want to discourage speculation--just to make sure that it's clear when something is unfounded and shouldn't be taken as fact.
Lemme know your thoughts!
Today marks the release of the sixth alpha for Darkwood. The patch notes can be found here.
My new kitten, I named him Hairball.

The promised Alpha 2 for Darkwood—a meaty 762.5 MB update—is now available. With the Alpha 2 the developers focused on an overhaul of their back-end system, but several new game features also made it in, such as a new world generation system and improvements to combat, alongside further optimization and bug fixes.
