Health is a mechanic in Darkwood. At the start, the Protagonist has two full healthbars. One healthbar is 50 Health Points, meaning the player can possess a total of 100 Health Points, 125 if the player acquire the Vitality skill in the late game. A regular Dog, Savage (Rock), Savage (Horns) deals 15 damage each hit. Thus to kill the Protagonist, 7 hits from them will be required, 9 if Vitality is gained.

Stamina is another mechanic in Darkwood. When starting the game, the Protagonist has four full staminabars. For simplicity, each staminabar will be defined as 25 stamina, totalling 100 stamina. Currently, there exist no official upgrades which better the player's running speed or length.

Standardization[]

Note that in this Fandom, the units for health and stamina is likely unofficial and unstandardized.

Other units that may be used in this Fandom:

  • 1 damage received = -1 Health Point
  • 1 pip = 50 Health Points
  • 1 block / 1 bar = 50 Health Points / 25 stamina (depending on the context)

Strategy[]

  • It is highly suggested to keep some healing items in the hotbar for quick usage, as you never know when a critical situation might happen.
  • If you'll be running for a long duration of time, it is advised to keep endurance enhancing items with you, as they reduce the cost of stamina which items or your running may use.
  • Running on Path slows down the consumption of stamina.
  • If Pitchfork or any other stamina-intensive melee weapon is used as your primary weapon, it is advised to first obtain the Light Materials upgrade, as it will give you more chances to attack, rather than waiting for the full recovery of your stamina. Note that ranged weapons do not consume it, except for Knife when using its secondary attack. You can use this as an advantage, for the occasion when you have ran out of stamina and waiting is no option to choose.
